Cindi Larsen is a Certified Hand Therapist, and PRN Palomar Airport Physical Therapy is proud and lucky to have her as a part of the staff. She started with PRN Palomar Airport Physical Therapy in 2001 when she moved to Carlsbad from the Los Angeles area. She brought with her over 20 years of therapy experience, and over 16 years of Hand Therapy experience. She has extensive training in hand treatment techniques including bracing and splinting. Cindi has extensive experience in treating traumas such as crush injuries, amputations, re-plantations, injection injuries, and tendon lacerations and ruptures. She has worked with countless patients with rheumatoid and osteoarthritis.
Cindi’s expertise, though, lies in her manual skill. When patients meet Cindi they can sense that she is capable and confident. She looks at the person as a whole, first recognizing that that hand she is treating is connected to an elbow, shoulder, and trunk; and second, recognizing that that hand is connected to a person who needs her caring attitude as much as her technical knowledge and skill. Cindi views herself as a teacher whose job is to promote independent function. She has the ability to communicate verbally and manually with a patient and during therapy she becomes the most significant person in the patient’s life so that she can become the most insignificant person. She empowers her patients to take control of their orthopedic problem and in doing so guarantees the best results. Most courses of treatment may begin with a hands on technique or treatment, but foremost in Cindi’s mind is the progression to independence. |
